Macfrut goes to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan

Cesena – Macfrut's international tour continues with missions in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The first event took place in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) with over 100 participants representing producers, exporters, importers, universities and institutions.
The event, organised by Consorzio Cermac and Macfrut, was an opportunity to introduce the next edition of the International Trade Fair for the Fruit and Vegetable Sector (to be held in Rimini from 9-11 May 2018) and to promote the Italian fruit and vegetable supply chain, in particular technologies and plant nurseries, which now have an important target market in Uzbekistan. The Italian companies present at the event included Rinieri, Ferrari Costruzioni, Forigo, TR Turoni, Ing. Rossi, Infia, Unitec and Fruit Control Equipment.
Uzbekistan is one of the Central Asian countries where the fruit and vegetable sector has developed the most in recent years: exports have increased from 279,000 tonnes in 2012 to 818,000 tonnes in 2016, also thanks to the blockade of imports from Europe into their main market, namely, Russia.
In the last few years, Uzbekistan, which traditionally exports table grapes and fresh market tomatoes, has increased its production of cherries - of which it is one of the world's top five producers - apples, drupes and melons.
Six companies from Uzbekistan participated in the 2017 edition of Macfrut and, given the excellent results and huge interest in the sector, an even greater number of participants is expected for 2018.

The tour will then head to Almaty, Kazakhstan, where another Macfrut presentation is scheduled.
