Macfrut 3.2 to Expand with Road Shows in Eastern Europe
Partnership with UniCredit to increase international business opportunities
60 percent of space already booked. Trucking industry returns to the trade fair.

Macfrut 3.2, the trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector becomes increasingly international with Road Shows in Eastern Europe with UniCredit. After a stop in Sofia, Bulgaria, it is now the turn of Warsaw, Poland, where 13 Italian companies are expected to participate. The Road Shows will then continue with stops in Bucharest and Budapest.
These meetings will be held at the International Business Centres of the local banks that are part of the UniCredit Group and will allow Italian companies attending the event to meet major operators in the sector, selected by the bank among its clients. Participants are expected to showcase their products and projects at these road shows before heading to Italy to attend Macfrut 3.2, which will be held at the Rimini Expo Center from September 23-25.
In order to encourage a constantly increasing level of internationalisation for Macfrut, UniCredit will be playing a leading role as a strategic partner of the initiative, actively supporting the 2015 edition of the trade fair, where international professionals in the fruit and vegetable sector can meet and discuss topical issues. In fact, thanks to its international network spread across about 50 markets, with 8,600 branches and more than 145,000 employees, UniCredit is ideally positioned to facilitate Cesena Fiera’s ambition to develop and expand abroad, thus actively contributing to achieving some of the key goals of Macfrut. The banking group’s undisputed leadership in Central and Eastern Europe enables UniCredit to currently provide comprehensive logistic and organizational assistance to the roadshow.
Macfrut plans to form similar partnerships focusing on South America – with a focus on Brazil – and sub-Saharan Africa in those countries where strong ties have been established thanks to the cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Significant results have already been achieved, including the participation of international giants such as U.S.-based Sun World, a leader in the seedless grape sector, and Zespri, the New Zealand-based Kiwifruit industry leader.
Macfrut 2015: key facts and new features
Great excitement surrounds the 2015 edition of Macfrut. Seven months before the show is scheduled to begin, 60 percent of the exhibition space sold in 2014 has already been booked.
In previous years, Macfrut’s commercial activities typically began in March. With significant activities already well underway, it is apparent the effort to significantly upgrade the trade fair has been well received.
In 2015 Macfrut, run by Cesena Fiera, will be held in six exhibition halls at the Rimini Expo Center and encompass 33,000 square meters. Four halls will be dedicated to post-harvest handling and technology, while the other two halls will be dedicated to pre-harvest handling and technology (technical equipment, nursery, greenhouse crops, producers of new varieties, etc.).
At the large amphitheater in the entrance that separates Macfrut from Flora Trade - the floriculture trade show - visitors will be able to immediately identify the innovations offered by exhibitors, including an exhibition on new plant varieties in the vegetable sector and in the fruit sector.
In addition, after an absence of several years, the trucking industry will return to Macfrut. To date, roughly 20 trucking companies have booked spaces at the exhibition, including the Lithuanian carrier Girteka and several other industry leaders.
