International Cherry Symposium

Macfrut 2022 will be the world capital of cherries and it will host the International Cherry Symposium, an international event that will be divided into different days and activities:
 
WEDNESDAY 4 MAY 2022
9:30 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. (SALA NERI) INTERNATIONAL CHERRY CONGRESS
The world’s leading cherry tree experts from the USA, Chile, Europe and Italy will get together to address crucial issues in cherry tree growing. Topics will range from where the global cherry market is heading to the economic sustainability of new cherry orchards, and from biotechnology applied to varietal innovation to cutting-edge breeding techniques. The Symposium will then continue with other key themes such as the precision management of cherry orchards, covering systems, plant protection and post-harvesting.

8:30 P.M. GALA DINNER AT THE GRAND HOTEL RIMINI
On the opening night of the ICS, a gala dinner will be held featuring the participating companies and foreign industry professionals who will be attending the event.
 
THURSDAY 5 MAY 2022
9:30 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. (HALL SOUTH). CHERRY GLOBAL PLAYERS
The main top players will discuss the prospects and market trends for cherries: Turkey, the USA, Chile, Uzbekistan, Spain and Italy.
 
3:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. GUIDED TOURS AT THE TRADE FAIR
An élite group of professional experts will take those participating in Macfrut 2022 on several dedicated tours of the stands of the main companies that have invested in the cherry industry: varieties and rootstocks, multitasking covering systems, processing technologies and packaging.
 

Finally, FRIDAY 6 MAY 2022, 8:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. it will be available a choice of two tours to explore the main cherry production and processing areas in the Emilia-Romagna region.
The first tour will take participants to Cesena and Longiano and will be dedicated to specialised, highly sustainable cherry tree growing.
The second tour will take visitors to the Vignola production area, which is renowned for the high quality of its PGI-certified cherries.
