Partnership between Macfrut and Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo renewed in Rome

The 2022 edition of the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector will focus on Africa during Africa Days

Rome (15 December 2021) — The partnership between Macfrut, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector, and Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo has been renewed. It was finalised today during an assembly held at the Confindustria headquarters in Rome entitled “Lead the Change. New prospects for Africa and the Middle East”. It was an occasion for participants to discuss the opportunities available to Italian companies in Africa, where the fruit and vegetable sector has a central role to play in the country’s growth and development. This theme will be at the heart of Macfrut 2022 (4-6 May at the Rimini Expo Centre) during Africa Days.

Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut, said: ‘We are more and more certain that the fruit and vegetable sector can play a major role in Africa’s growth. This is why, for many years now, we have been focusing particularly on this continent, not only by hosting an African pavilion at our trade fair, but also by taking part in many international missions. The 2022 edition of Macfrut at the Rimini Expo Centre will offer something more: three days of events dedicated to the opportunities available to companies in the fruit and vegetable sector in Africa. It is called Africa Days and includes three events: the General State of African Fruit and Vegetables, a presentation on the international cooperation projects of AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), and a focus session on specific countries to highlight the opportunities available for companies in this booming market. I would like to thank the MAECI, Ice-Agenzia, UNIDO and Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo for this great opportunity.’

As mentioned above, three events are scheduled during the course of three days as part of Africa Days: on the first day, the General State of Fruit and Vegetables, which will bring together experts, companies and institutions to discuss crucial aspects for the growth of this sector in the various African countries. The second day will be dedicated to international cooperation with a focus on the AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) projects in Africa. On the third and final day, a focus session on several countries will be held in order to present African companies to international exporters and European export companies, as well as the opportunities that this receptive and rapidly evolving market has to offer.

Africa Days is hosted in collaboration with the MAECI - Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), ICE-Agenzia - Italian Trade Agency and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation), and in partnership with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo.
